ANDARES Presented at the CCO Oregon Annual Conference
On October 5th, ANDARES joined our colleagues Alicia Bublitz (IHN-CCO Social Determinants and Transformation), Barrett Ebright Karnes (consultant), and Paulina Kaiser (Samaritan) in presenting at the CCO Oregon Annual Conference, which took place in Salem. Presenters for ANDARES were Keiri Lopez Rosel and Ricardo Contreras. The presentation was titled “From data to Impact: Strengthening Evaluation Capacity for Community-led Change”.
Our ANDARES team discussed the role that evaluation played in the Conexiones/Sharing in Community project, a project funded by IHN-CCO through a DST grant in 2025, with a particular emphasis on the logic model that the consulting team facilitated with us. A main insight is that the process of creating the logic model illuminated project implementation and allowed us to make the project sustainable in time. Some of what was included in the logic model was already known to us, but much of it was the result of the reflection that the evaluation consulting team facilitated. Clearly, program evaluation, and logic modeling in particular, can strengthen community-based projects.
Many times CBOs do not have the time, resources, or expertise to systematically reflect upon practice through evaluation. Therefore, the IHN-CCO DST decision to evaluate their pilot projects was a necessary and overdue first step.
