Our Second Year Supporting Farmworkers

With the support of the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), ANDARES is in the second year supporting the heath and wellbeing of farmworkers in Linn, Benton, and Lane counties. The Farmworker Health Program (formerly knows as ‘Protecting Oregon Farmworkers’) is a project of the OHA Office of Community Health and Engagement whose purpose is to provide the farmworker community access to knowledge and resources around health and wellbeing.

Our strategy consists in doing direct outreach and education activities in farms, schools, businesses, and churches. Since we started in this project, early in 2025, we have assisted 164 people navigate the system to find resources, enrolling them in the Oregon Health Plan, and helping with medical appointments. As of the date of the writing of this post, our community health worker team, led by Marlin Perez, has taken care of 326 requests for assistance. We are proud of our community health workers and grateful to OHA for the opportunity given to us to support our farmworker community.
